published: 2014-06-10 16:23
  • Comprehensive programme covers entire scope of innovations in Photovoltaic technologies, applications, markets and policies
  • Programme benefits from extensive experiences in PV system operations in Europe
  • EU PVSEC 2014 confirms its global relevance

With 1,500 presentations from 71 countries, the 29th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC 2014) takes place in September in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The event once more sets the benchmark for this year’s global PV events. The comprehensive conference programme has now been published following extensive review, scoring and selection of the submitted abstracts by more than 200 renowned research and industry experts from the global PV sector.

In 87 Conference Sessions, the keynote, plenary, oral and visual presentations cover the entire scope of innovations in PV technologies, applications, markets and policies. The Scientific Committee compiled a programme of highest international standards for this EU PVSEC 2014. It is the opportunity to join scientists, engineers and practitioners from Photovoltaic research institutions and industry from around the world to present and discuss the future PV technologies and applications. 60% of the presentations focus on the latest trends in new materials, wafer-based silicon solar cells, thin-film solar cells and concentrator technologies.

The EU PVSEC 2014 underlines its global relevance with around half of the contributions being provided by specialists from countries outside Europe. While installation and market data may realign the focus from Europe to the Asia / Pacific region and to the Americas, it is now, that the world capitalizes on Europe’s extensive and unique first-hand experiences in designing and operating PV systems of all sizes in grids with a high penetration level of renewables.

The EU PVSEC 2014 takes up this situation with the introduction of the new conference topic Operation, Performance and Reliability of Photovoltaics. And it proves to be an instant success: 25% of the presentations discuss operational aspects of PV components and systems. This share gives strong evidence that system technologies and operational aspects are today’s decisive factors for PV’s global success.

In addition, the Conference Programme dedicates 14 sessions to the latest PV applications, market developments, business, political and globalization issues to further drive the share of Photovoltaics worldwide. The Conference Programme is structured along the following main subjects:

  • New Materials and Concepts for Solar Cells and Modules
  • Wafer-Based Silicon Solar Cells and Materials Technology
  • Thin Film Solar Cells
  • Solar Cells, Assemblies and Modules for Terrestrial Concentrator Systems and for Space Solar Generators
  • Operations, Performance and Reliability of Photovoltaics
  • PV Applications
  • PV - A Major Electricity Source

The combination of this leading Conference with an international PV Industry Exhibition and additional Parallel Events that offer a deep insight into specific topics, forms the unique character of the EU PVSEC. Participants benefit from multiple synergies and networking opportunities at this Business-to-Business, Business-to-Science and Science-to-Industry platform.

The EU PVSEC 2014 will take place from 22 to 26 September 2014 at RAI Convention and Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The five-days Conference is held along with the three-days Exhibition from 23 to 25 September 2014.

Background EU PVSEC

For many years, the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) has combined a renowned international scientific Conference with a leading PV Industry Exhibition and trade fair. During 5 Conference and 3 Trade fair days, new products and technical innovations from all areas of photovoltaics and from all over the world are on show.

The EU PVSEC is supported by European and international organisations such as the European Commission, UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE - World Council for Renewable Energy, EPIA - European Photovoltaic Industry Association, IPVEA - International Photovoltaic Equipment Association, ESA - European Space Agency, EREF - European Renewable Energies Federation, EUFORES – European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources, EU PV TP - European Photovoltaic Technology Platform, ARE - Alliance for Rural Electrification, AIE - European Association of Electrical Contractor, CABA - Continental Automated Buildings Association, EPIC - European Photonics Industry Consortium, SASIA - Saudi Arabia Solar Industries Association.
