American PV module manufacturers Suniva and Auxin Solar are reportedly to have sent a petition to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) asking for an extension of the enforcement of the Section 201 tariffs. News agencies in Europe have reported that the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and ČEZ Group signed a memorandum of understanding indicating that they will be working together to help establish a local EV battery manufacturing plant. The memorandum was signed on July 27, and it entails a project investment of around US$2.4 billion. Zhejiang Jingsheng (also known as JSG), a Chinese provider of silicon materials and related processing equipment, announced on July 30 that it will establish a joint venture with Applied Materials, a US-based provider of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This joint venture will then be used to acquire several business units from Applied Materials.
