Construction Begins for SAIC and Tsingshan Group’s Joint Power Battery Project in Guangxi

On October 10, a joint venture of SAIC and Tsingshan Group held a ceremony to celebrate the commencement of the construction of a base for the manufacturing of NEV power battery systems. Located in the New Energy Industrial Park of the Liudong New Area, the base entails an investment of RMB 10 billion and is set to have a production capacity of 20GWh per year. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsumami, the Japanese government changed its energy policy and planned to develop safer nuclear reactors.
