Latest Progress of LONGi's 12GW BC Battery Project

According to Wechat Official Account @DNE, on April 23, according to Xi'an local media reports, the main construction of the plant of 12GW high-efficiency BC cell project invested by LONGi Green Energy in Xi'an Jingkai District, Shaanxi Province, is basically completed, and the procurement of production equipment has been completed. The project plans to start moving in equipment at the end of April, supply energy at the end of May, and complete the installation of production equipment for trial production at the end of June.

Previously on June 7, 2023, LONGi Green Energy announced that the company signed an agreement with the Management Committee of Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone to reach a cooperative intent on the company's investment and construction of an annual production capacity of 20GW monocrystalline silicon rods, 24GW monocrystalline cells and ancillary projects in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.

It is understood that the total investment of the project is approximately 12.5 billion yuan and it will be constructed and put into production in three phases. Among them, the first phase is a project with an annual output of 20GW monocrystalline silicon rods and 12GW monocrystalline silicon cells. The second phase is a project with an annual output of 12GW monocrystalline silicon cells. The third phase is a project reserved for capacity expansion and supporting industrial chain, and at the same time, a Longi Global Innovation Center project will be constructed as a supporting facility.

According to local media reports in Xi'an, Longi Green Energy's project with an annual output of 20GW monocrystalline silicon rods, 24GW monocrystalline silicon cells and supporting facilities officially started construction in Weibei New Town, the Economic and Technological Development Zone on August 18, 2023.

In addition, Longi's 12GW high-efficiency BC cell project with an annual output will rely on Longi's latest developed BC photovoltaic cell technology to break through the bottleneck of core photovoltaic cell technologies and achieve large-scale mass production, thus ensuring the stable development of the supply chain and industrial chain of the photovoltaic industry.

At the same time, the project plans to lease factory buildings and ancillary facilities, purchase industry-leading intelligent and green cell production lines and supporting equipment, and ultimately build an annual output of 12GW high-efficiency BC cell capacity.

It is worth noting that on April 8, the local media in Xi'an also made a follow-up report on another PV project of LONGi in Shaanxi - LONGi PV New Energy Industrial Park Project (Phase I). As of that day, the project is advancing in an orderly manner.

According to the information, LONGi Photovoltaic New Energy Industrial Park Project (Phase I) plans to construct 50GW high-efficiency monocrystalline cells and 50GW monocrystalline silicon slices annually. After the completion of the project, it will become the largest, highest capacity and most technologically advanced photovoltaic production base of LONGi in the world.
