According to Official Account @bjx-chuneng, on April 2, Tesla disclosed its Q1 2025 results, in which energy storage added 10.4GWh of new installations, an increase of 156.6% over the same period last year, with a slight drop from the previous year.
In fact, it has been difficult for Tesla's energy storage capacity to meet the demand for orders. And the Shanghai energy storage super factory has become the key to break the ice.
On February 11, 2025, the first energy storage system in Tesla's Shanghai factory was landed, meaning that this 40GWh capacity factory was officially put into production. on March 21, the first Megapack energy storage system was officially exported and shipped to Australia.
It's clear, though, that the Shanghai factory didn't release its full capacity for the time being in the first quarter, and installed energy storage capacity slipped 5.6% in this earnings period compared to the previous quarter.
However, Tesla founder CEO Musk had predicted that the energy storage business would grow by more than 50 percent by 2025. This has now been achieved in the first quarter, and has more than doubled from 4GWh in the same period last year. Its installed deliveries are expected to rise further when Shanghai reaches full production.
