It is reported by Guangfu.BJX that according to India's market research and consulting firm JMK Researchand Analytics, India's new solar PV installed capacity in 2024 was 24.5GW, a year-on-year growth of 145%, a record annual new capacity, the cumulative installed capacity has exceeded 98.4GW.

New installations included approximately 18.5GW of large-scale ground-mounted power plant projects, 4.59GW of rooftop PV and 1.48GW of off-grid PV, representing year-on-year growth of 184.6%, 53% and 197%, respectively. Among them, rooftop PV grew significantly, driven by the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, one of the world's largest rooftop PV programs. The program aims to install PV in 10 million homes by March 2027, adding 30GW of capacity. By the end of 2024, 700,000 rooftop PV systems had been installed.

Among the large ground power projects, Rajasthan led the country by contributing 7.09GW, followed by Gujarat with 4.32GW and Tamil Nadu with 1.73GW, which together accounted for 71% of the country's new large ground power plant capacity.

In comparison, India added around 3.4GW of wind power capacity in 2024, up 21% year-on-year, led by Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

By the end of 2024, India's total installed renewable energy capacity reached 209.44GW, of which PV accounted for 47%, continuing to hold the largest share among clean energy technologies.
