According to the report, the Smart Manufacturing Plant for Photovoltaic Monocrystalline Silicon Wafers (Phase I) is a new project located in Huangjia Subdistrict, Shuangliu District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, along the southern extension of Xihanggang Avenue. The project is owned by Zhongwei New Energy (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. With a total investment of RMB 700 million, the project aims to build a 20 GW monocrystalline silicon wafer production line (182mm x 210mm) and is scheduled for construction from November 2024 to September 2025.

The project involves leasing and renovating an existing production workshop previously owned by Tongwei Solar (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., with a total construction area of 67,065.14 square meters (including 2,570.76 square meters of new construction and 64,494.38 square meters of renovated space). Equipment to be purchased and installed includes slotting machines, automatic rod-bonding lines, slicers, de-gluing machines, and integrated cleaning machines.

Established in July 2018, Zhongwei New Energy (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. has a registered capital of RMB 800 million and is represented by Guo Kuanxin. The company's business scope includes the manufacturing of photovoltaic equipment and components, battery production, and the manufacturing of mechanical and electrical equipment. It is wholly owned by Tongwei Solar Co., Ltd.
