EVE Energy Launches Phase II of World's Largest Energy Storage Factory in Jingmen

published: 2025-01-08 10:27

According to Ofweek, on the morning of January 5, the foundation pile construction of EVE Energy's Super Factory Phase II (60B) officially commenced in Jingmen High-Tech Zone, Hubei Province.

This marks another major milestone for EVE Energy’s Jingmen battery production base, following the commissioning of the Super Factory Phase I (60A) project on December 10, 2024.

According to public information, the Super Factory is EVE Energy’s tenth facility in Jingmen and the largest single-unit energy storage factory in the industry. It primarily produces MB56 large LFP (lithium iron phosphate) energy storage batteries, with a total investment of RMB 10.8 billion and a designed capacity of 60 GWh, constructed in two phases.

Given that the design capacity of the Phase I (60A) production line is 17 GWh, the design capacity of Phase II (60B) is highly likely to be 43 GWh.

Reports indicate that the 60B factory will mass-produce EVE Energy's new-generation MB56 energy storage batteries for applications in power storage, outdoor storage, marine energy storage, and other scenarios.

The MB56 large LFP energy storage battery, also known as the "Mr. Big 56," was launched in 2023. It features a single-cell capacity of 628 Ah, an energy density of up to 2.009 kWh, and an energy efficiency exceeding 96% at 25°C.

Notably, during an investor relations event disclosed on October 27, EVE Energy stated that the domestic market is witnessing a rapid increase in the adoption of 314 Ah battery cells, and it is expected that large-scale domestic energy storage systems will fully transition to 314 Ah next year. For the overseas market, 280 Ah and 314 Ah cells are expected to coexist for some time.

With a single-cell capacity twice that of 314 Ah, the 628 Ah MB56 large LFP energy storage battery remains to be seen when it will achieve large-scale application.
