7.5GWh! LG Energy Solution Signs Another U.S. Energy Storage Project

published: 2024-12-24 17:30

According to Chuneng.BJX, on Dec. 21, the U.S. subsidiary of South Korean company LG Energy Solution announced that it had signed an agreement with U.S. new energy investor Excelsior Energy Capital to provide a 7.5GWh energy storage system and integration and full lifecycle services.

The first deliveries will be made in April 2026, and all projects will reportedly meet U.S. domestic requirements. All projects will feature the latest LG Energy Solution containerized energy storage solutions and lithium iron phosphate batteries designed to optimize energy efficiency and improve safety.

LG Energy Solution will provide all system integration services, the AEROS™ software control system, and related services to support the system and operator throughout the project lifecycle.

The agreement builds on LG's growth in the US grid-scale battery energy storage market. It comes after LG signed a four-year battery energy storage system supply agreement with U.S.-based Terra-Gen to supply up to 8GWh of modular, containerized lithium iron phosphate battery storage systems that will be manufactured in North America between 2026 and 2029.

LG Energy Solution Vertech, a U.S. subsidiary of LG specializing in energy storage systems, was established in February 2022 through the acquisition of NEC Energy Solution, a U.S. energy storage system system integration company.

Excelsior Energy Capital is one of the most experienced renewable energy teams in North America, investing in the development and operation of wind and solar power projects in the mid-market of North America.
