According to DNE, on December 20, JA Solar announced that it invested RMB 3,957,082,800,000 to build a project with an annual production capacity of 6GW of high-efficiency solar cells and 3GW of high-power solar modules in Sohar Free Trade Zone, Oman.
According to the announcement, JA Solar intends to set up a new project company as the main body of investment operation and management of the project, and plans to introduce the participation of external shareholders to invest in the construction of the project in the form of a joint venture.
JA Solar said that globalization as one of its important development strategies, has built up a global sales and service network system, overseas business accounted for more than 50%, with the continuous growth of overseas market demand, and at the same time by the impact of the international trade protection policy, its overseas production capacity layout needs more and more urgent. The investment and construction of this overseas production capacity project is in line with the needs of the company's globalization development strategy, which can enhance the overseas production capacity of high-efficiency products, better serve the international market and improve the company's core competitiveness.
This is JA Solar 's second Middle East project in a month.
Earlier, on Nov. 21, Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UAE-based Global South Utilities (GSU) and JA Solar to establish two solar plants.
According to the content, both solar plants have an annual capacity of 2GW, one dedicated to manufacturing solar cells and the other to producing solar modules.
It is expected to invest $138 million (about 999 million yuan) in the solar cell plant and $75 million (about 543 million yuan) in the solar module plant, which will mainly serve the local market, according to the report.
