November 28, the seventh lithium battery technology and industrial development conference opened in Chengdu PI. During the period, Qingtao solid state battery southwest industrial base project launch ceremony was held.
The project is invested by Qingtao Energy, with a total planned investment of 10 billion RMB, to build solid-state lithium battery core production line and module, PACK production line and solid-state battery technology R&D center, with an annual production capacity of 15GWh, which will build the first semi-solid-state battery production line in Chengdu. The project is divided into two phases of construction, a production line has been completed in May 2023 and put into production, the current start for the second phase of the project.
Qingtao Energy was established in June 2016, headquartered in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, founded by academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University professor Nan Cewen team, focusing on solid-state lithium batteries, ceramic diaphragm, lithium production equipment research and development and production, and in the core materials of solid-state batteries, the core process, the customized equipment to obtain self-control, is the earliest to achieve the delivery of mass production of solid-state batteries, one of the first solid-state battery enterprises in the country.
In terms of technology routes, Qingtao Energy's first-generation semi-solid-state batteries adopted the oxide + polymer technology path, while its second-generation solid-state batteries opted for the oxide + halide + polymer route. According to the plan, the company expects to develop the second-generation solid-state battery in 2025 and mass-produce the third-generation battery in 2027, with a target energy density of more than 500 Wh/kg.
