Aiko Solar: BC Module Shipments Planned to Exceed 20 GW Next Year

published: 2024-11-28 9:13

On November 23, Aiko Solar disclosed a record of its investor relations activities. During the event, the company provided the following updates:

Regarding module shipment volume, Aiko Solar shared that its current operational BC production capacity includes 10 GW in Zhuhai and 15 GW in Yiwu, which is being gradually ramped up. Additionally, the Jinan base is under construction, with module production expected to commence by the end of this year and cell production in the first half of next year. Consequently, the company plans to ship over 20 GW next year. The Yiwu facility achieved full capacity in September, which is sustainable. Meanwhile, the Zhuhai base is undergoing upgrades for full-screen modules and 0BB technology, with full-screen module shipments expected by year-end.

Looking ahead, the Yiwu fundraising project can continue its rapid construction with the implementation of the planned stock issuance and other financing measures. The company envisions a medium-to-long-term production capacity exceeding 100 GW. The BC production capacity plan for the Yiwu base is 15 GW, with 8 GW currently installed and operating at full capacity, while the remaining 7 GW is being installed. Given the company's rapid technological advancements, it is considering upgrading the remaining 7 GW capacity at Yiwu to 0BB products, which are more suitable for large-scale ground-mounted power plants. This decision aligns with the company's mature ground product offerings, which feature a high bifaciality of 75% or more.

Regarding cell shipments, the company emphasized balancing capacity utilization, market pricing, and profitability based on market conditions. Currently, products sold in cell form include PERC and TOPCon, while ABC production capacity maintains a 1:1 ratio between cells and modules, predominantly sold as modules. At times, PERC demonstrates better profitability than TOPCon.

On the topic of external sales of BC cells, Aiko Solar noted that some manufacturers face capacity and technical constraints, resulting in genuine demand from certain partners. Unlike previous practices of selling cells outright, the company is exploring ways to collaborate within a reasonable regulatory framework. Maintaining an open attitude, Aiko Solar is still in the discussion and decision-making stages regarding this matter.
