(Sunova Solar) under the U.S. subsidiary Thornova Solar has been formally launched in Indonesia photovoltaic cell and module production line, cell and module production line of the annual production capacity of 2.5GW.
The site manufactures photovoltaic modules in PERC technology and N-cell technology, covering a power range of 400 W to 720 W. The plant has been in operation since 2024 and is now fully operational. After a commissioning phase since September 2024, the plant is now fully operational.
William Sheng, CEO of Thornova Solar, noted, “The United States is Thornova Solar's most important market, so ensuring that we have sufficient capacity to meet local regulatory requirements is critical to meeting the growing demand for our modules in this market, and this is just the beginning. ”
From 2024, Thornova Solar not only plans to supply modules to the global market from its base in Indonesia, but also aims to expand its production capacity in the United States, where it plans to build a 3GW capacity base.
He expects that by mid-2025, U.S. customers will be able to purchase N-type PV cells and modules from Indonesia, Laos, or the U.S. mainland. The company will take advantage of tax credits offered by the IRA to supply locally produced cells and modules and will propose to build a wafer fab in the U.S. The exact location and annual capacity have not yet been disclosed.
Thornova already operates a 1.5GW/year PV module plant in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, which brings the company's global PV capacity to 10GW by the end of 2023.
