On November 11, Trina Solar signed a 2GW module supply agreement with Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC), a renewable energy developer in the Philippines.

Trina Solar will supply CREC with Vertex N 720W series n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules to be deployed in its centralized photovoltaic (PV) projects in the coming years. Last October, the two companies signed a 700 MW agreement for Trina Solar's Vertex DE21 modules.

“We are nearing completion of our first GW watt project and are paving the way for our next 2GW solar project through our latest supply contract with Trina Solar,” said Oliver Tan, President and CEO of CREC.

The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has pledged to achieve 35% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and 50% by 2040. In August this year, the Board of Investments (BOI) under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expedited the approval of 3.5GW/4.5GWh solar plus storage projects in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija provinces.
