On November 7, Shanghai Cairi Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Cairi Energy) announced a milestone strategic decision: the establishment of its first overseas joint venture smart energy storage equipment manufacturing base and energy trading platform in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain.

This move marks the implementation of Cairi Energy's localization strategy after five years of dedicated expansion in the European market. Málaga will serve as a vital hub for Cairi Energy’s expansion in Europe and globally.

The initial investment for the new base amounts to €60 million, covering an area of approximately 18,900 square meters, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2025. The facility will focus on the production of energy storage battery & packs, outdoor cabinets, and containerized energy storage system integration, with an estimated annual production capacity of 5 GWh.

Additionally, Cairi Energy will establish an energy trading platform in Spain to work alongside its joint venture partner in providing localized energy services, including electricity price forecasting and power trading. This initiative aims to position Málaga as a leading city in Spain and Europe for the energy storage industry, further driving regional industrial upgrades. The base is expected to directly create 800 jobs, injecting new momentum into the local economy.

As the sixth base in Cairi Energy's global portfolio, it is comparable in scale to the company's other domestic facilities, underscoring Cairi Energy’s strong confidence and long-term investment perspective for the European energy storage market.

Recently, Cairi Energy engaged in in-depth discussions with Andalusia’s Minister of Finance, Carolina España Reina, and Minister of Industry, Jorge Paradela Gutiérrez, on the base’s implementation details and subsequent plans. To support local industrial development, the Andalusian government will offer a series of incentives, including tax benefits, subsidies for new energy projects, priority access to approximately 6 GWh of government projects (from 2025 to 2027), and prioritized project grid access.
