On 23 October 2024, at All-Energy Australia 2024, HyperStrong entered into a strategic partnership with Australian energy group Tesseract.

The partnership will focus on large-scale energy storage and industrial/commercial energy storage projects in Australia, with a project size of nearly 1GWh. The conclusion of this strategic partnership marks a solid step forward for both companies in their shared vision of promoting clean energy and sustainable development.

At the show, Tesseract presented its Energy-Storage-as-a-Service (ESaaS) model of solar and battery storage solutions to the industry for the first time. The solution is designed to provide flexible and sustainable clean energy services to commercial and industrial customers, helping them to optimise their electricity costs, reduce their carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency. Through the partnership with HyperStrong, Tesseract will leverage its innovative Internet of Things (IoT) management platform for energy to provide users with more efficient distributed energy management solutions.

As a renowned new energy company in Australia, Tesseract Group focuses on energy management and energy storage solutions, with business covering every state in Australia. In the field of household energy storage, Tesseract has successfully launched an innovative business model of PPA+VPP by leveraging its advantages in virtual power plant technology, and plans to develop 50,000 VPP users and establish 500MWh distributed energy storage power plants in the next five years. With its rich localised project experience and strong technical capabilities, Tesseract has excelled in the development of large-scale energy storage and solar and energy storage systems for the industrial and commercial sectors. Together, the two companies will promote intelligent and flexible energy management models in the Australian market and support the clean energy transition of the local community.

In terms of large-scale energy storage, with the rapid growth of the large-scale energy storage market in Australia, medium- and long-term energy storage will become a major trend in the Australian market in the future. The two parties will cooperate to deploy a 200MW/800MWh large-scale energy storage project in South Australia in the near future, and will consider to continue to expand and deepen the cooperation in this area by jointly developing two other large-scale energy storage projects.

In terms of commercial and industrial energy storage, Tesseract plans to expand its ‘Energy Storage as a Service’ programme and expects to develop and deploy 120MWh of commercial and industrial energy storage projects within three years. HyperStrong will work with Tesseract to expand its behind-the-meter energy storage business. According to Dr Andrew Mears, CEO of Tesseract ESS, behind-the-meter energy storage projects can range in size from 2MW-5MW of power at a single site, which is more profitable than large-scale energy storage plants through FM ancillary services, demand response and peak-to-valley arbitrage, while avoiding the long approval process. In addition, both parties will maximise revenue by integrating SwitchDin's virtual power plant platform and real-time trading platform.

As an industry-leading energy storage manufacturer, the company has always been committed to providing safe and efficient energy storage solutions for different markets, and has continuously strengthened its co-operation with leading international companies, said HyperStrong. The co-operation with Tesseract will not only help to consolidate HyperStrong's position in the Australian market, but will also further expand the company's influence in the global energy storage business.

Recently, the company opened its new Asia Pacific headquarters in Sydney, aiming to be closer to the local market and strengthen localised support to drive the rapid development of the energy storage business in the region. The signing of this co-operation is one of the key initiatives for HyperStrong to further develop the Asia Pacific market. As the demand for clean energy grows rapidly, HyperStrong will continue to push forward with technological innovations and provide high-quality energy storage solutions to help achieve sustainable development goals in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
