8GW! EliTe Solar Signs PV Project in Egypt

EliTe Solar, a Singapore-based manufacturer of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, has announced its plans to build a new solar manufacturing center in Egypt with an annual capacity of 8GW.

The project is located in the Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (SETCZ) in the northeastern Egyptian city of Suez TEDA and covers an area of 78,000 square meters. The first phase of the project, which is expected to be completed by September 2025, is a 2GW solar cell production line. The center is expected to generate annual sales of more than US$190 million after commissioning.

Following discussions with the Egyptian Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Suez Special Economic Zone and the Chairman of the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, a Chinese conglomerate, the company announced an investment project worth more than $150 million.EliTe Solar Chairman Liu Jingqi said, “This joint venture will make Egypt a central hub for photovoltaic manufacturing in the Middle East and North Africa. We are introducing cutting-edge technologies that will revolutionize the local supply chain and manufacturing standards. We are committed to building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will serve as a model factory for efficiency, sustainability and advanced production processes.”

EliTe Solar is headquartered in Singapore and has manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, Indonesia and the Middle East. The company's current annual production capacity includes 6GW of wafer capacity, as well as 7GW of cell and 5GW of module capacity.
