The commercialization of all-solid-state batteries has always been a hot topic in the industry, and its discussion on investor interactive platforms is also increasing. Recently, another battery factory shared the research and development progress of all-solid-state batteries on the interactive platform。

On August 19, Gotion revealed that the company has achieved the preparation and basic performance verification of vehicle-grade all-solid-state batteries, which is a breakthrough for all-solid-state batteries from 0 to 1, and successfully passed the rigorous 200 degrees Celsius hot box test, providing a new implementation route for high-specific energy and high-safety battery systems.

It is understood that as a technology-based company focusing on new energy batteries, Gotion continues to promote technology and product innovation such as iron-manganese lithium batteries, semi-solid-state batteries, and all-solid-state batteries, and the company began to develop solid-state batteries in 2017.

In May this year, Gotion Hi-Tech launched its innovative all-solid-state battery, Goldstone Battery. The battery adopts innovative all-solid-state technology, and its energy density reaches 350Wh/kg and 800wh/L, which is more than 40% higher than that of traditional ternary lithium batteries, and also has the characteristics of 3000 cycle life, 60% fast charging in 6 minutes, and wide temperature range of -40~100°C.

In the field of semi-solid-state batteries, Gotion Hi-Tech has also made important progress. The company has developed a pouch semi-solid-state battery with an energy density of up to 360Wh/kg, and has the conditions for industrialization. At present, Gotion Hi-Tech is actively engaging with customers in different fields such as vehicle manufacturers and low-altitude aircraft to promote the commercial application of this technology.

It is worth mentioning that at present, despite the progress of all-solid-state battery technology in the laboratory and in some specific applications, automotive-grade all-solid-state batteries have not yet achieved mass production.

In January this year, Huineng Technology announced the launch of the world's first automotive-grade solid-state battery production line in Taoyuan, Taiwan, China, marking an important step towards the commercialization of solid-state battery technology. However, the annual installed capacity of Huineng Technology can only meet the demand of 26,000 vehicles, which is relatively small compared to the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle market.

However, the research and development progress of automotive-grade all-solid-state batteries is still continuing. For example, on April 2, Tailan New Energy announced an important breakthrough in the research and development of automotive-grade all-solid-state lithium batteries, launching all-solid-state batteries with an energy density of up to 720Wh/kg. However, the commercial application of all-solid-state battery technology still needs to overcome challenges such as cost, production scale, and safety.
