19.2 Billion! China's PV Module Exports Buck the Trend in June

published: 2024-07-23 15:28

According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China's photovoltaic module exports reached 19.2 billion yuan in June 2024. Although this represents a 26.7% year-on-year decline, it achieved a 3.1% increase compared to the previous month. This data indicates that despite uncertainties in the global trade environment, China's photovoltaic module export market still demonstrates considerable resilience.

The latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs show a trend of "stable volume and falling prices" for China's photovoltaic module exports in June. From a regional distribution perspective, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi provinces have become the main forces in photovoltaic module exports, with the number of modules sent from these regions accounting for a significant proportion of total exports. This trend reflects the concentrated advantages of China's photovoltaic industry in the eastern coastal areas and the strong capabilities of these regions in the production and export of photovoltaic products.

Regarding export destinations, the Netherlands, Brazil, and India continue to be the main markets for China's photovoltaic modules. Notably, demand in markets such as India, South Africa, Australia, and Germany saw significant month-on-month growth in June, indicating strong demand for photovoltaic products in these regions. The growth in the Indian market is particularly noteworthy, benefiting from the local government's active promotion and policy support for renewable energy.

Despite facing rising global trade protectionism, such as India's final anti-dumping ruling on aluminum frames for solar cells/modules from China, Chinese photovoltaic companies continue to maintain their competitiveness in the global market through technological innovation, cost control, and market diversification strategies. Additionally, the presence of Chinese photovoltaic companies in overseas markets is deepening, with efforts to establish production bases and expand sales channels further consolidating and enhancing their international market share.

In June 2024, China's photovoltaic module exports achieved month-on-month growth despite multiple challenges, showcasing the strong vitality and international competitiveness of China's photovoltaic industry. In the future, with the continued growth in global demand for renewable energy, Chinese photovoltaic companies are expected to further expand their overseas markets and contribute to the global energy transition and green development.
