Envision Energy has signed a significant battery storage supply contract for the Cellarhead project in the UK. The project, with a capacity of 300MW/624MWh, is set to commence construction this year and is expected to be connected to the grid by 2026. Once completed, it will become one of the largest battery storage facilities in the UK.
This contract further validates Envision Energy's leading position in the UK market. In 2023, Envision Energy secured 1.5GWh of new orders in the UK market. To date, the company has delivered over 1GWh across major projects such as Wormald Green, Wilton, and Hawthorn Pit.
For the Cellarhead project, Envision Energy will collaborate with Ameresco, a US-based company, to provide EPC and O&M services to the project investor, Atlantic Green. Ameresco will oversee the engineering, procurement, construction, and long-term maintenance of the project, while Envision Energy will supply the complete AC and DC storage systems, including SCADA and EMS systems.
Once operational, the Cellarhead project will serve as a critical energy storage facility, enhancing the UK's energy supply and grid reliability, and supporting the UK's goals for energy independence and net-zero emissions by 2050.
Xu Gang, Global Vice President of Envision Energy, stated, "Battery storage technology is the cornerstone of a sustainable energy system. Our collaboration with Atlantic Green and Ameresco allows us to showcase advanced storage solutions that play a key role in enhancing energy security and enabling a seamless transition to renewable energy. We are delighted to contribute our leading technology to this landmark project in the UK."
Atlantic Green, founded in 2021 as a joint venture between Nofar Energy and Interland Group, focuses on investing in, developing, and operating grid-scale independent storage facilities across the UK, with a development capacity target of 2GW. The Cellarhead project is a milestone in Atlantic Green's sustainability goals.
Envision Energy is a global leader in smart energy storage systems, offering comprehensive technological capabilities and solutions. In 2023, Envision Energy ranked fourth in China and fifth globally in shipment volumes. Currently, Envision Energy has participated in over 200 projects worldwide, delivering over 10GWh, with an order backlog of 15GWh.
