China’s Production Capacity for Rolled PV Glass Grew by 121.6% Year on Year for First Half of 2022

The Raw Material Division of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported in mid-July that China’s production capacity for rolled PV glass grew by 121.6% year on year for the first half of 2022. In June, the domestic rolled PV glass sector saw sharp increases in both production volume and price. However, the inventory level of the supply side had also risen to a relatively high level. A total of 38 companies were involved in the domestic rolled PV glass sector during the first half of 2022. There were 109 furnaces and 348 production lines that were in service during the same period, though the numbers of furnaces and production lines that were actually outputting glass products came to 93 and 313 respectively. The in-service production capacity reached 6.4 tons per day, whereas the actual operating production capacity was at 5.9 tons per day.

The total production volume in the half-year period came to 6.856 million tons, up by 48.7% year on year. For June, production volume came to 1.335 million tons, up by 55.1% year on year. The average inventory level of the domestic rolled PV glass sector arrived around 18 days at the end of June.

The average price of 2mm rolled PV glass in China for the first half of 2022 came to RMB 20.9 per square meter, down by 21.3% year on year. The average domestic price of 3.2mm rolled PV glass for the same period arrived at RMB 27.1 per square meter, down by 15.3% year on year. For June, the average price of 2mm rolled PV glass rose by 18.9% year on year to RMB 22.1 per square meter, while the average price of 3.2mm rolled PV glass also climbed up by 35.7% year on year to RMB 28.4 per square meter.
