Kymco has decided to go against the major trend of rising oil and shipping cost by releasing a new plan that would become effective since April 1st. The goal is clear, and that is to compete with Gogoro’s inflated plans.
Kymco announced today that the company will be adjusting its Ionex electric scooter plan starting from April 1st. The overall reduction of prices is evidently targeted at Gogoro’s elevated plans on the same day.
Amidst the inflation-induced 2022, Ionex decided to adhere to the same battery plan, and offers additional free ampere-hours, which drastically increases the mileage with the same cost. For the single battery plan, the same plan will now offer more than twofold of mileage compared to the previous version.
The single battery $499 plan is now added with 300Ah of free usage that bumps the total capacity to 550Ah, while the duo battery $499 solution is now at 300Ah in terms of available usage.
Ionex has also launched new plans for owners with high mileage requirements, which are the $1249 and the $1279 solutions. The first charges NT$1.7/Ah, and offers additional 570Ah on top of the basic 735Ah, which adds up to 1,305Ah in total. An 18-month plan would lower the price to NT$949. The second charges NT$1,279 of basic fee each month, and offers at least 3 months of use for each application. This particular plan offers unlimited capacity, and is the best option for high mileage users.
Kymco carries on with its free battery swapping bargain, where the $299 and $499 single battery plan, as well as the $299, $499, and $799 duo battery plans, are lowered to a basic fee of NT$0 after discount. The new $1249 plan offers 1,305Ah, and the basic fee drops to NT$105 after being bundled with the free battery swapping discount, while the $1279 plan is also dropped to NT$408 after the bundling.

Gogoro will be raising its battery plan from April 1st, with a minor increase in various plans starting from as low as NT$30, and as high as NT$100 for unlimited plans. Utilizing this opportunity, Kymco aims to carve up the high mileage market.
Those who are looking to purchase electric scooters would have to decide which plan is the most suitable for them.
