Maxeon Solar Technologies announced on March 17 that it has secured 400MW module order from Origis Energy. Maxeon is a Singaporean module supplier that was spun off from US-based SunPower. The company still uses the SunPower brand name in certain regional markets. As for Origis Energy, it is a US-based developer of renewable energy and energy storage projects. Maxeon’s modules will be used in utility-scale projects that Origis is building in the US.

The module that Origis has ordered from Maxeon is a bifacial module with shingled mono-Si PERC cells that are G12 in size format. It is worth noting that Maxeon has its own patented shingled cell design. Maxeon will be delivering modules to Origis in the period between June and December 2023.

The related press releases from the two companies offer no details about the exact locations where Maxeon’s modules will be deployed. According to its website, Origis has so far installed 3,115MW of PV generation capacity and 953MWh of energy storage capacity in the US.

The deal with Origis came just a few days after Maxeon had announced that it will be supplying 315MW worth of modules to Cypress Creek, which is another renewable project developer based in the US. Cypress will be using Maxeon’s modules in projects located in the states of Washington and Texas.
