The first roadside parking spots integrated with 5G smart management will begin a one year trial run next to the Taipei City Government starting from today in the hopes of facilitating easier charging for EV owners.
The 5G Smart Pole Standard Promotion Alliance announced at a press conference yesterday (January 25th) that a year of proof of concept (POC) will be conducted at the Songzhi Road section of the square to the east of the Taipei City Government building.
The 5G Smart Pole Standard Promotion Alliance formed by the Taipei Computer Association consists of members from a total of 46 businesses ranging from electronics, telecommunication, and leading EV charging. As one of the first members of the alliance, Yes Energy of the Yulon Group serves as an essential proponent of EV charging, and stipulated a global 5G smart pole technical standard for the alliance that combines hardware specifications and technical integration of equipment software through the software of EV charging piles, which facilitates charging services for roadside car parks.
Yes Energy commented that the area for the trial run is located at the Songzhi Road section (from Eslite to Taipei 101 Building) of the square to the east of the Taipei City Government building, and is internally equipped with more than 10 different functions, including 5G micro base stations, EV charging piles, and smart lightings. The EV charging comes to life with the “YES! Call” app, where users are able to experience the service through EV and C-V2X applications. An integration between roadside parking spots and 5G smart poles is expected to be seen in the near future that will effectively mitigate EV owners’ concerns on temporary parking and impeded charging.
5G smart poles are utilized through smart urban constructions, and resource nourishment is made possible from the engagement of various relevant government departments. Through scientific and aesthetic designs of smart poles and charging piles, a more convenient social circle that facilitates easier routines for EV owners is thus established, and the maximum efficacy of 5G smart poles is exerted when shaping for a smart city that is the start of sustainable and green low-carbon lifestyle.
This is a collaborated project between the Taipei City Government and businesses, and there will be no charges during the trial run period. EV owners are encouraged to utilize the service and experience the convenience of roadside charging.
