Cathay Life Insurance Co., Ltd. aims to diligently help stabilize power supply in Taiwan. Therefore, Cathay Life Insurance, Ally Logistic Property, and Power Master Technology Co., Ltd. formed an alliance. They co-built the second PV power project of Cathay Life's Real Estate Department.
This solar project is located at Wuri Logistics Park, near the Taichung high speed rail station. There are 3,300 pyeongs on the rooftop of Ally Logistic Property available for the PV system. With capacity of about 1.4 MW, in April 2018, the system already began to get parallel connection and generate electricity. This power station is predicted to generate 1.62 million kWh per year. By accomplishing this project, Cathay Life Group reached another milestone of its green energy development.
Cathay Life Group explained its first three PV projects. The first one was in the Dayuan Logistic Park, Taoyuan County in 2017. This rooftop PV project's construction was finished, and electricity meters were set up and the station began to generate power. The second project is the Wuri Logistics Park in Taichung. The third one will be in Yangmei Logistic Park, Taoyuan City. The Group started to design and construct for that rooftop PV plant. This plant is likely to begin to generate power in 2H18.
Cathay Life expressed that the rooftop PV project in the Wuri Logistics Park is predicted to provide power for 445 households per year and reduce about 1,031 tons of carbon emission per year. This is equivalent to about 2.6 Daan Park's annual carbon absorption quantity. This site will renew the green landmark for Taichung's skyline.
Cathay Life emphasizes that its ongoing supports to Taiwan energy transition policy is a way to fulfill its social responsibility. Cathay Life showed four actions to contribute to the development of Taiwan green energy. First, in the past one year or so, Cathay Life collaborates with strategic partners in the solar energy industry by forming three joint ventures. Second, the Group already set up a comprehensive procedure for solar energy investment evaluation. Third, the Group uses its own buildings as PV energy generation stations. Fourth, the Group is looking forward to renting domestic enterprises' rooftop for new PV projects.
