TBEA Signs MOU with Egypt for 1GW Power Plant Project

published: 2016-07-29 18:11

China’s TBEA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Egyptian government on July 27th. The company will work with the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation and Military Production to develop a 1,000MW PV power plant in Egypt.

The 1,000MW power plant will be divided into two 500MW power plants, according to the MOU. However, a construction timetable has not been announced yet. Power plants will be developed using local capacities in order to stimulate the PV growth (from multi-Si wafer to module) in Egypt. TBEA will share their experiences in power plant development to assist Egypt with their PV development.

“The project comes in line with the President’s directives to diversify energy sources and aims to make a quantum leap in the local manufacturing of solar power in Egypt,” says Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of International Cooperation.
