American Reading Company (ARC) is now powering its warehouse in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania by a 313kW rooftop solar system built by SunPower and TerraSol Energies.
"As a triple bottom line company (people, planet, profit), we are proud that our new SunPower system will help us reduce carbon emissions and save approximately $2 million in electricity costs over the next 25 years," said American Reading CEO and Founder Jane Hileman.
ARC is a diverse, mission-driven, woman-owned business that focuses on running education activities. The organization is trusted by over 5,000 schools and 1,000 districts in 50 U.S. states in increasing students’ academic performance as well as life prospects. ARC is trying to reduce carbon emissions and electricity bills, and it achieved with SunPower and TerraSol Energies’ help.
SunPower supplied the SunPower® Helix™ Roof products for ARC’s rooftop project. Helix® is a pre-engineered, modular solution that can be installed almost three times faster than traditional choices, enabling customers to scale their solar programs quickly with minimal business disruption. SunPower launched Helix® in 2015 and has won contracts from customers including Macy’s and Bed, Bath and Beyond, while the project for ARC is SunPower Helix® Roof’s first commercial installation.
"Helix makes the complex simple, allowing customers like American Reading to manage energy costs and maximize solar power production over the long term,” Bill Kelly, SunPower vice president. “We commend TerraSol for being the first of our commercial dealers to complete a Helix Roof system, and look forward to their continued success."
