JUWI Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Germany-based renewable energy company juwi AG, has awarded three PV project construction plans, totaling 90MW, in Colorado. All the three projects will be utility-scale projects and are scheduled to be completed and connected to the grid by the end of this year.
Two of the three projects are owned by PSEG Solar Source, and another one will be developed by juwi under a PPA with Intermountain Rural Electric Association (IREA). Power generation of these three projects will be enough for powering 21,330 local homes in the states.
The PSEG San Isabel Solar Energy Center is the largest project among the three projects. It will have a capacity of 37.8MW, with roughly 120,000 solar panels covering a land of approximately 300 acres. This project is currently under construction in Las Animas County, Colorado. PSEG Solar Source acquires this project from juwi in early June, and juwi will construct the solar park under an EPC contract with PSEG Solar Source. In addition, a 25-year PPA has been signed with Tri-State Generation and Transmission for this project.
The second project “PSEG Larimer Solar Energy Center” is a 36.3MW project that will consist of approximately 117,000 solar panels and covering 290 acres of High Plains terrain. This is another project transaction conducted between juwi and PSEG Solar Source same in early June. Platte River Power Authority will purchase electricity generated from this solar power plant through a 25-year PPA.
The last one, Victory Solar with 15.9MW capacity, will be developed by juwi as and will supply electricity within Adams County. IREA and juwi has signed a PPA for this project. Construction is scheduled to start and complete in 2016.
