RES Distributed, a wholly owned subsidiary of solar and wind developer Renewable Energy Systems (RES), has entered into agreements with Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) to develop, construct and manage 15MW of distributed solar generation projects in the Texas Hill Country.

So far, RES has constructed 300MW of solar systems in the Americas, 70MW of which are in the Central Texas region. The company established RES Distributed in 2015 as an entry into the distributed energy market.

"RES Distributed is pleased to work alongside PEC to support member interest in distributed generation and embrace reliable and sustainable energy," said Tom Duckett, President, RES Distributed. "This project demonstrates an innovative, customer-sited energy solution that RES Distributed will deliver using our 20 years of development, construction and energy management experience."

The PES Solar Project will consist of 15 sites across PES’s service territory and each site will have a solar array with up to 998kW. Constructions will begin later this year and are scheduled to be completed in 2017. After all the projects are completed, PEC will purchase electricity generated from the facilities under a long-term PPA sighed with RES Distributed.

The solar projects will also supply PEC’s customers with local-produced clean electricity.
