sPower Sierra Solar Connects to Grid, 22.5MW in Los Angeles County

published: 2015-12-02 15:14

sPower connected its Sierra Solar project, sPower’s first in Los Angeles County, to grid after successfully completing construction. The 22.5MW solar farm is now delivering clean, reliable energy to Southern California Edison (SCE) under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

“This important milestone is another renewable energy success story for the Antelope Valley. It is a result of a years-long collaborative effort from everyone involved – from LA County’s Department of Regional Planning to Lancaster landowners to SCE to our EPC partner,” said sPower CEO, Ryan Creamer. “It is exciting to see the project become fully operational, and we look forward to continuing to foster an ongoing relationship with LA County.”

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, sPower is an independent power producer that owns and/or operates more than 150 utility-scale and commercial distributed generation systems totaling 1.7GW capacity across the U.S. and the UK. The company purchases renewable assets actively in North America and the UK, and is a portfolio company of Fir Tree Partners, a global investment fund.
