SunPower Supplies Solar Panels for a 12MW Plant in France

published: 2015-09-23 15:02

The 12MW Roc du Doun solar power plant in Gros-Chastang, Correze, France has been commissioned operation on September 18. SunPower supplied high efficiency solar panels for the plant owned by La Compagnie du Vent, a subsidiary of ENGIE.

SunPower supplied a total of 41MW of solar panels to La Compagnie du Vent for the construction of four solar power plants under the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy national tender program. All four solar plants are located in France and are now operational. The high efficiency SunPower solar panels are manufactured at SunPower's facility in Toulouse, France, and are Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver. SunPower is the only solar panel manufacturer in the world to achieve this designation, and 75% of SunPower’s solar panels carry the Cradle to Cradle Certified mark.

The 12MW Roc du Doun solar power plant is the fourth one of the four La Campagnie du Vent projects. Prior to the Roc du Doun plant, a 12MW Langele solar power plant, a 12MW plant in Auvergne region and a 5MW plant in the Province-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region have been constructed and dedicated. SunPower also worked with La Caompagnie du Vent to deliver the 4MW Porette de Nerone solar plant in Aghione, Corsica in 2012.

The new 12MW plant is expected to generate approximately 16,800,000kWh of clean electricity annually, enough for around 7,000 local residents.

"La Compagnie du Vent has been a SunPower partner since 2012, and we are pleased to assist them in delivering 41 MW of emission-free solar power for homes and businesses in France," said SunPower Executive Vice President Jorg Heinemann.
