Recently, the EU has confirmed that Chinese solar glass was dumped into Europe, and thus the EU will slap temporary duty rates on Chinese solar glass for six months starting from August 6th.
Solar glass is an auxiliary material of PV module, sitting on the front side of the module. Although the EU has imposed tariff rates on Chinese solar glass, they usually would import finished products as there are not many module manufacturers in Europe, according to EnergyTrend’s understanding. Even if module manufacturers need glass, they can import it from Taiwan or other regions. Therefore, the duty rates on Chinese solar glass will not have much impact on Europe and China.
But the solar glass anti-dumping and countervailing action shows that the trade war between China and Europe is not likely to end anytime soon.
