The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s (EERE) Assistant Secretary David Danielson visited Suniva, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cells and modules, on Friday, July 10th. The company’s executive team met Dr. Danielson and had a private tour of the manufacturing facility.
As the leader of EERE, Dr. Danielson oversees a broad energy portfolio, including the Energy Department’s SunShot Initiative, a collaborative national effort that aggressively drives innovation to make solar energy fully cost-competitive with traditional energy sources before the end of the decade. Discussion points at Suniva’s headquarters included the importance of the clean energy industry and how it relates to American jobs, the economy and national security. Dr. Danielson’s visit coincided with his participation in the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative (CEMI) Southeast Regional Summit, held at Georgia Tech, at which John Baumstark, Suniva chairman and chief executive officer presented.
“We are grateful that Assistant Secretary Danielson visited our manufacturing facility,” said John Baumstark. “As the leading American manufacturer of high-efficiency, high-quality solar modules, our team of solar experts works diligently every day to help strengthen the clean energy economy. It was exciting that he could witness our American success story.”
