Yingli Solar to Ship 40MW of PV Modules to Honduras

published: 2015-06-25 17:19

Sybac Solar, a global solar integrator, will develop the 50MW Pacific Solar project and the La Manzanilla y Las Lajas projects in Honduras. Yingli Solar will ship respectively 25MW and 15MW of PV panels to the two projects. The supply agreement will also improve Yingli Solar’s presence and market share in the Central America.

The Pacific Solar project is developed by EM-Power Corporation, a Guatemala-based Central American renewable energy company. the first phase is expected to begin operating in August 2015 and the second phase is expected to come online in 2016. At least 160,000 multi-si YGE 72-Cells Series panels, cumulatively 25MW, will be installed for the project.

Separately, Yingli is also delivering 15 MW of these YGE 72 Cell Series solar panels for the first tranches of the La Manzanilla y Las Lajas project, which was developed by Energys de Honduras S.A. de C.V. Once complete, at least 96,000 Yingli Solar panels will be installed in this utility-scale system.

This is not the first cooperation between Yingli Solar and Sybac Solar. Yingli Solar has supplied 24MW of PV panels to the Pavana Solar Park, also located in Honduras. The reliable experience creates a long-term partnership between these two companies. “Yingli is a prefereed supplier for the remainder of our project pipeline in Central America and the Caribbean,” said Mr. Markus Falz, Chief Executive Officer of Sybac Solar.

Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy, remarked, "By investing in highly sophisticated regional operations for key emerging markets like Latin America, we have differentiated Yingli as the supplier that truly understands local market requirements and can provide superior service. This strategy is bearing fruit in Central America, particularly as markets mature, solar-friendly policies are legislated, and larger projects become the norm."
