First Solar has won two awards at the International Solar Industry Awards 2014: the Solar Award for Excellence, and the Thin Film Innovation Award.
Recognizing innovative products and services, and technological advantages across the solar value chain, the awards are judged by a panel consisting of 100 experts. The Awards were held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Solar International presented the winners of the awards.
PV Tech reported that Solar International’s editor-in-chief, David Ridsdale, said “the Award for Excellence in the company category is a testament for First Solar’s long-term commitment to provide sustainable energy solutions in order to meet the world’s rising demand for electricity.” Besides, the Thin Film Innovation Award is judged by achievements in increasing thin-film efficiencies and driving costs down.
As a world leader in solar manufacturing, First Solar has installed over 9GW of solar systems around the globe. It also focuses on developing thin-film technologies and has world records of 21% cadmium-telluride (CdTe) efficiency. Christopher Burghardt, vice president for Europe at First Solar, believes that the awards are significant recognitions for the company’s dedication to reliable and renewable energy.
