Linda Church Ciocci, Executive Director of the National Hydropower Association, stated on the release of the president Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget request, showing that hydropower is one of the central projects to develop in USA. The following is the statement:

“Hydropower is the nation’s most affordable and reliable renewable electricity resource and NHA applauds President Barack Obama’s FY 2015 budget proposal for recognizing the crucial role that expanding hydropower will play in the country’s diverse energy future.”

“The budget continues and improves vital investments in water power research and development. We also applaud the president for his commitment to grow hydropower and other renewable energy generation by recognizing the need to provide long term financial certainty to developers through permanent tax incentives.

“The proposed budget also strikes a new funding balance between conventional hydropower and emerging marine and hydrokinetic technologies. Both hold great promise for the nation’s clean energy future and the near-even split of the $62.5 million allocated to the Department of Energy’s Water Power Program builds upon years of investment to develop more efficient and environmentally-friendly turbines, reduce costs of small hydropower and new marine and hydrokinetic technologies, and promote hydropower’s role in the integration of variable energy resources.”
