“Now Ivanpah is online everyone wants to see it in action, I have been inundated with enquiries from the Middle East and South Africa who want to visit the plant and understand the technology,” said Marco Geraghty, organizer of CSP Today USA. Geraghty added, “We are delighted to be able to offer attendees this unique opportunity and showcase the most recent milestone in U.S. engineering”.

The facility is the world’s largest CSP project, encompassing 3500 acres and a power output of 392MW with over 170,000 low impact heliostats, said Renewable Energy World.

Ivanpah is considered a very important project to those in the industry as it “demonstrates how large scale CSP systems operate, which is important for proving the technology from a technological viewpoint,” said Joe Desmond, SVP of Marketing and Government Affairs at Brightsource Energy. The project is seen as the key to the future success of CSP.
