Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd., the Singapore based subsidiary of Phoenix Solar AG, an international photovoltaic system integrator that is listed on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, will design and construct a 707 kWp photovoltaic system at the Singapore Sports Hub, one of the world’s largest sports-related Public-Private Partnerships, established between the Singapore Sports Council and SportsHub Pte Ltd.
Among other facilities, the Sports Hub will include a new 55,000-capacity National Stadium with a retractable dome roof. The photovoltaic system will offset the energy required by the stadium’s bowl cooling system, making it carbon-neutral. Based on a solar power purchase agreement with SportsHub Pte Ltd. Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd will own and operate the system for the time being.
“This is a great project for Phoenix Solar. Photovoltaic is commercially viable today, and the Sports Hub is a perfect setting to demonstrate integration of photovoltaic in Singapore’s urban landscape” said Christophe Inglin, Managing Director of Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd.
Constructed using REC modules and SMA inverters, the photovoltaic system will occupy an area of approx. 7’000 m². Its prominent location within the Sports Hub will provide a unique showcase for photovoltaic technology, with exposure to a wide cross section of the population – both local and international.
“We are very pleased to work with Phoenix Solar Pte Ltd. They have combined solid technical expertise with an aesthetic design to integrate their photovoltaic power plant in the Sports Hub campus. This is just the beginning of the Singapore Sports Hub’s plan to integrate innovative technologies into this state-of-the-art sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub,” said Philippe Collin Delavaud, Chief Executive Officer of SportsHub Pte Ltd.
Bernd Köhler, CEO of Phoenix Solar AG adds: „This exciting project is another indication of how well positioned our Singapore subsidiary is in its markets. Congratulations to our team for its innovative approach which is an excellent basis for sustainable business success.”
