Vienna-based Activ Solar is pleased to announce the commissioning of the 34.14 megawatt peak (MWp) Bolgrad Solar Park in the Odessa region of Ukraine. This is the 5th PV installation that Activ Solar has completed in the southern part of the region, which lacks local electricity generation.
The Bolgrad Solar Park, spanning over 63 hectares of land, will produce enough clean power to meet the electricity demand of more than 10,000 households. The park consists of 26 inverters and 141,812 polycrystalline solar modules installed on a double-row mounting system. The execution of this project has created more than 320 construction jobs and 6 full-time operational jobs. The solar power station will produce 41,300 megawatt hours of clean electricity annually, which is an equivalent saving of approximately 35,000 tons of CO2. With the commissioning of the Bolgrad Solar Park and installation of over 180MWp of total capacity during the past 12 months, Activ Solar reconfirms its commitment to the Odessa region.
Kaveh Ertefai, Chief Executive Officer of Activ Solar says “the southern region of Ukraine remains particularly attractive for photovoltaic installations because it offers high levels of solar irradiation and has large areas of unutilized land, unsuitable for agricultural purposes. Having a highly skilled local execution team, which supports the development and construction of the solar project pipeline in this area, reinforces Activ Solar’s commitment to the sustainable energy development in the region.”
