Vestas’ first V126-3.0 MW Turbines Sold to Customer in Finland

Just six weeks after being launched to the market, Vestas is proud to announce that the first order for three V126-3.0 MW turbines has been placed by TuuliWatti Oy in Finland.

“Vestas is excited to be able to so quickly sign the first order for the V126-3.0 MW turbines,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe.

The V126-3.0 MW is built on the proven technology of the 3 MW platform. The turbine’s rotor swept area has been increased by 27 per cent compared with the V112-3.0 MW and is specially designed to yield maximum power production on low wind sites.

“With the introduction of the V126-3.0 MW, Vestas has taken another step forward, creating a better business case for our customers, and we are proud to take this step with TuuliWatti Oy,” says Krister Poole Jönsson, VP Sales, Vestas Northern Europe.

TuuliWatti Oy, a key customer and frontrunner in Finland, has an established track record of purchasing Vestas 3 MW turbines, with one wind power plant in operation and two more being installed. Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines and a six-year full-scope active output management agreement AOM 5000.

”Finland is no longer a beginner in wind power. Rather, we are at the forefront of development. TuuliWatti has worked systematically to increase the use of wind power, and we are constantly looking for the best and most advanced technologies for our projects. The latest technology, such as the new Vestas turbines, enables the construction of more cost-effective wind farms, which take local residents and environmental viewpoints into account”, says Jari Suominen, Managing Director of TuuliWatti Oy.
