Solar Nation has announced the installation and commissioning of a 2.18 megawatt solar-electric system at Avidan Management’s multi-use commercial facility located at 180 Raritan Center in Edison, New Jersey.
This is the second of several installations planned by Avidan Management for its commercial properties as part of an on-going effort to reduce and stabilize energy costs and continue its long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and energy conservation.
The roof-mount system spans almost the entirety of the building's 350,000 square foot rooftop, with 8,554 Solar- World® Sunmodule® panels (manufactured in the U.S.) forming the collecting end of the 2.18MW system. The system also utilizes Solar Nation's proprietary SolarRidge® racking, as well as SMA inverters (Sunny Central SC500U & SC250U) manufactured by SMA America.
Without destroying any habitat, the system is projected to produce over 2.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year—enough to meet approximately 93% of the current annual electrical needs of the building's commercial tenants. In addition to significantly reducing operating expenses, the power provided by this system will keep 1,768 metric tons of C02 from entering the atmosphere annually, which is the equivalent of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from 347 passenger vehicles and C02 sequestered by 377 acres of pine or fir forests.
"Avidan is committed to stewardship,” said Avi Avidan, Managing Member of Avidan Management. “We recognize and embrace our responsibility to make smart decisions that are not only good for our business, but also for the tenants and the communities that we serve. By installing solar on our properties, we are reducing the operating expenses of our tenants, making them stronger businesses, stronger employers—all while improving the environment and reducing pressure on the electrical grid.”
"By continuing to leverage New Jersey’s renewable energy portfolio standards to deliver clean, discount energy to its tenants, Avidan Management has extended its leadership in commercial and industrial real estate," said Dan Drummond, Chief Executive Officer of Solar Nation. “We are proud to work with a company that is always looking for better ways to serve its customers and community, and we applaud their ongoing significant commitment providing tenants renewable, emission-free solar power."
