Nordex ’ Scandinavian business continues its strong growth path. The wind turbine manufacturer has now signed the second contract with Norwegian Midtfjellet Vindkraft AS (MVAS), owned by Østfold Energi AS, EB Kraftproduksjon, Fitjar Kraftlag SA and Vardar AS, for the delivery and installation of another 23 Nordex wind turbines for the phase 2 extension of the “Midtfjellet” wind farm.

The combined 110 MW Midtfjellet wind farm will become one of the largest wind projects in recent years in Norway and is being built on the island of Stord. Civil works are currently in the finishing stages with wind turbine deliveries starting mid July 2012 for phase 1, which compromise 21 N90/2,500 turbines.

For phase 2 Nordex will deliver a mix of wind turbines, comprising 13 x N90/2500 and 10 x N100/2500, to maximize the energy yield. Deliveries will start mid March 2013. Both agreements include five-year premium service contracts with option for a further ten years.

Says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, Chief Customer Officer of Nordex SE: “Securing the combined Midtfjellet wind farm is an important milestone for Nordex and is a strong sign of faith in the Nordex product and organization. We have worked intimately and diligently with MVAS and are well on the track of ensuring the successful execution of the project. Midtfjellet will become the key reference project for our future Norwegian activities.”
