When the first half ended, the Taiwan based thin film manufacturer NexPower Technology Corporation claimed the company had coped with this year’s slow market momentum relatively well, in particular its shipping volume for any first half had reached a new company high of 43.16MW with a 24% growth (from 34.75MW) comparing to same time in 2010. Now with the finish of the third quarter, this time NexPower recorded another company high again. NexPower claimed that in just three quarters the company has shipped out a total of 72.51MW, which is almost equivalent (indeed 98%) to 2010’s annual shipment of 74.10MW.
With growth in every quarter, this year NexPower delivered 18.56MW, 24.60MW and 29.35MW in quarter one, two and three respectively. This is not an easy achievement considering the market situation this year. More significantly if just comparing Q3 this year to last year, NexPower has achieved a challenging 64% boost from 17.92MW. Charles Chen, sales and marketing vice president of NexPower, explains the major reason is having established a widely spread and balanced global market. With installation close to twenty five countries worldwide today, NexPower’s shipping volume has settled to grow with a more stable pace, and hence is more able to go through sudden market changes, as the affected regions may be compensated by the rise of other regions or even from the newly developed markets. Having maintained a good long-term relationship with existing customers is another key. A lot of orders are actually repeat purchases or referrals from existing customers. Interestingly in Q3 a significant amount of enquiries actually came because of the third party test, Photon Lab’s outdoor module test. As the latest result shows NexPower ranks first among all the tested modules for having the highest accumulated power output so far this year.
In Q3, India and Europe still remained as NexPower’s main markets. The last two months NexPower shipped 5MW to a client in India to start the company’s very first project using the tracking system. According to the client this would be one of the largest tracking system projects in India. Another thing worth noting is that the rest of Asia (excluding India) climbed up to account for 21% of the Q3 shipment, in particular with 3.15MW to Thailand. Furthermore in Q3 NexPower has successfully extended its business to some new regions, especially in Europe such as UK and Bulgaria.Recently NexPower has announced one of its goals in Q4 is to push the shipping volume number again. The company is expecting by attending major solar events in different regions will help on this. So far NexPower has scheduled to exhibit in the major US annual event, Solar Power International this month, and then to PV Japan and Intersolar India respectively before the year ends.
