The “Green City Solution” is a long-term and short-term city plan to speed economic recovery and preserve the environment. This is accomplished by efficiently producing, storing and using energy – using renewable solar power, advanced energy storage and clean, efficient LED lighting and electrified transportation.
The first step of most Green City Solution is to electrify existing urban public transportation systems in a sustainable way. BYD’s all-electric vehicle product lineup includes: e-Taxi and e-Bus offerings with the BYD e6 and the BYD K9 (respectively). Gasoline or diesel buses and taxis are gradually replaced by fully electric ones dramatically reducing the transportation sector’s pollution contribution and cutting operating costs by 30% or more.
This solution can also provide efficient energy storage by charging vehicles during off-peak hours and discharging them during peak daytime hours. BYD supplies components for solar farms that can produce electricity at a lower cost than traditional coal-fired plants. On another front, BYD will continue to promote the mass-market consumer adoption of energy efficient products such as, home energy storage systems, LED lighting systems, EVs, and EV charging stations. Widespread adoption of these green technologies will help to create, greener, healthier and more economically vibrant cities.
