According to Wechat Official Account @gh_cbefccfce621, Recently, Longi's battery research and development has achieved another significant breakthrough. Certified by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Longi's independently developed silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell has achieved a conversion efficiency of 34.85%, once again breaking the world record for silicon-perovskite tandem cell efficiency.
As the mainstream technological path for the next generation of ultra-high-efficiency solar cells, silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells have a theoretical limit efficiency of up to 43%, far exceeding the Shockley-Queisser limit efficiency (33.7%) of single-junction solar cells. Through continuous technological breakthroughs, Longi's tandem cell team had already increased the tandem cell efficiency to 33.9% in November 2023, followed by pushing the cell efficiency of this technology route to a new high of 34.6% in June 2024. In less than a year, Longi has broken the world record again with 34.85%, demonstrating the strong R&D capabilities and relentless exploration spirit of Longi Central R&D Institute.
Recently, Longi also announced at its Wuhu base in Anhui that its independently developed hybrid interdigitated-back-contact (HIBC) silicon solar cell achieved a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 27.81%, as officially certified by the German Solar Energy Research Institute of Hamelin (ISFH). This achievement pushes the exploration of the limits of single-junction silicon photovoltaic cells to a new level. With this, Longi has once again broken its own world records for both single-junction silicon cells and silicon-perovskite tandem cells, continuously solidifying its "double champion" innovative achievements and key technology foundation.
As a leading global solar technology company, Longi highly values independent innovation and technological R&D. It consistently promotes cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the photovoltaic industry through the industrialization of advanced technologies, forming an efficient R&D system and sufficient technology reserves of "mass production of one generation, research and development of one generation, and reserve of one generation." In the future, Longi will continue to adhere to its original aspiration of technological innovation and contribute to the global energy transition with independent innovation and original technologies.
