According to Longi, on April 11th, LONGi announced at its Wuhu base in Anhui Province that its self-developed Hybrid Interdigitated-Back-Contact (HIBC) crystalline silicon solar cell achieved a photovoltaic conversion efficiency of 27.81%, as officially certified by the German Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin (ISFH).
In November 2022, LONGi set a world record of 26.81% for the conversion efficiency of crystalline silicon cells. In May 2024, LONGi raised this record to 27.3%, followed by consecutive breakthroughs to 27.4%, 27.52%, 27.63%, and now reaching 27.81%.
The HIBC cell, innovatively and independently developed by LONGi's Central R&D Institute, achieves a dual breakthrough in optical management and carrier transport efficiency by reconstructing the cell structure and material system, paving a new path for increasing the power density of photovoltaic modules.
True innovation requires not only breaking through technological limits but also anchoring long-term value amidst the fog of uncertainty. As a world-leading solar technology company, LONGi leads the development of the photovoltaic industry with independent innovation and original technologies. Based on this, second-generation BC technology and forward-looking R&D have achieved continuous breakthroughs, the conditions for the large-scale development of BC technology are mature, and the advanced manufacturing model of lighthouse factories is being rapidly promoted.
On the road of technological innovation, LONGi has never stopped. This latest breaking of the world record for the conversion efficiency of single-crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells not only verifies LONGi's ability to focus on value creation and promote industrial progress but also reflects the company's ambition to achieve global energy transition and energy equity.
