Acoording to CLS, Trina Solar recently announced a strategic partnership with AMEA Power, a large clean energy company in the Middle East, to build a large-scale energy storage project in Egypt.
The project will provide 300MWh of the cutting-edge Elementa2 platform (5MWh) for the Abdos energy storage project in Aswan, Egypt. This project is currently the largest solar PV scheme in Africa and the first utility-scale battery storage system project in Egypt.
The Abydos project is Trina Solar's first energy storage project in the Middle East and Africa. The Elementa2 platform (5MWh), supplied by Trina Solar, utilizes Trina Solar's in-house vertically integrated Lithium Iron Phosphate (Li-FePO4) batteries, which are an advanced grid-scale battery storage system.
AMEA Power is a Dubai-based clean energy company that has deployed clean energy projects totaling 6 GW in 20 countries.
The Abydos energy storage project, developed by AMEA Power, is part of the expansion of the existing 500MW Abydos solar photovoltaic power plant in the Kom Ombo region of Aswan, which was just declared operational this month. The project not only realizes the efficient use of clean energy, but also enhances the stability of the local power grid.
Champion Wu, Trina Solar's Vice President of Global Sales and Regional Head of Middle East Africa, emphasized, “The Abydos project highlights the important role of Trina Solar's energy storage's technological innovation strength in supporting Egypt's clean energy transition.”
It is worth mentioning that Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company Limited, which is responsible for the construction of the project, is a subsidiary of China Energy Construction Group Limited.
