SOLON Energy GmbH has been awarded the contract to build a photovoltaic power plant with a total capacity of 2 MW on an abandoned landfill in Jena- Ilmnitz (Thuringia). At the behest of the city of Jena, SOLON is planning the power plant, installing it so that it is ready to use, and is also responsible for commissioning it. The investment amounts to around four million euros, including the development of the land and of the project.
The plant is being built on an area of about four hectares; 8,360 polycrystalline solar modules with fixed mountings will be used. The yield can provide up to 1,400 households in Jena with electricity generated in a climate-friendly manner.
