In order to accelerate the pace of vehicle electrification and digitization, Infineon recently announced the launch of a new generation of AURIX microcontrollers (MCUs) which can be widely used in next-generation electric vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive electronics/electrical ( E/E) architecture and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, etc.
The automotive industry is changing rapidly and microelectronics will be a key element in the future of autonomous driving, connectivity, and information security. To this end, Infineon has released the new AURIX MCU which adopts a next generation TriCore 1.8 architecture and is equipped with the AURIX accelerator kit which possesses higher scalability.
It is reported that the kit integrates a new parallel processing unit (PPU) and a SIM D vector digital signal processor (DSP) that can meet the requirements of various AI topologies, suitable for various applications such as real-time control and radar data post-processing. At the same time, the new MCU is highly scalable and supports a common software architecture which can significantly reduce costs.
Infineon emphasizes that the new microcontrollers will assist in the development of electric vehicles and autonomous driving technologies, helping automobiles achieve higher levels of connectivity and safety. In addition, the new Software Over-The-Air (SOTA) capability also meets the needs of OEMs to securely and quickly connect the car to the cloud for software upgrades in the field, as well as diagnostics and analysis while the vehicle is on the move.
